The DevSecGuide to Infrastructure as Code

The DevSecGuide to Infrastructure as Code Infrastructure as code refers to the technology and processes used to manage and provision infrastructure using code. It enables DevOps processes such as version control, peer reviews, automated testing, tagging, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.  DevSecOps has paved the way for teams to automate security and embed it into the DevOps lifecycle. In this guide, we’ll explore the challenges of leveraging DevSecOps to secure the cloud and how infrastructure as code makes it all possible.

VMware Tanzu Application Platform: Turning developer definition into a running Kubernetes pod

VMware Tanzu Application Platform: Turning developer definition into a running Kubernetes pod Kubernetes is the highest abstraction available to modern application developers today, sitting above containers and VMs. It is also arguably the most complex to get started with, VMware believes, being a mostly DIY user experience (such as building and maintaining containers and configuring them using YAML). As such, VMware has announced its Tanzu Application Platform (TAP) as a new set of abstractions that packages certain functionalities to help remove some of the complexity and take the sting out of cloud-native development – simplifying application delivery.  Download the analyst report to read more!

The State of the Software Supply Chain: Open Source Edition 2021

The State of the Software Supply Chain: Open Source Edition 2021 It’s a safe assumption that almost all large organizations worldwide are running at least some OSS. From operating systems to web servers to databases to programming languages to Kubernetes—there’s an open source project for almost everything.  With the popularity of OSS comes a significant set of concerns for enterprise IT executives, decision-makers and developers. Given the pace of OSS adoption, we wanted to investigate its use in the enterprise further. This survey was designed to dig deeper on OSS usage, including what types of OSS companies choose and why, what they like, and what the challenges are.  In particular, our goal was to understand challenges and opportunities in two critical areas: OSS packaging and security. Enterprises haven’t settled on the tools and processes necessary to package and secure OSS in production, and the OSS supply chain remains a critical security risk that must be taken seriously.  Read the eBook to learn more.

Recognizing and Removing Friction Points in the Developer Experience on Kubernetes

Recognizing and Removing Friction Points in the Developer Experience on Kubernetes Kubernetes is a game-changing technological advancement, enabling infrastructure and operations teams to automate application deployment and management at scale. But it has also presented new challenges to developers. As organizations adopt cloud native application paradigms, they face a developer experience crisis due to the complexity of the cloud native ecosystem and a steep learning curve for developing applications for Kubernetes.

Focusing on your users’ IT experience brings enormous benefits

Focusing on your users’ IT experience brings enormous benefits The shift to hybrid working underlines the link between IT and people’s productivity and wellbeing. But until now, these ‘human’ metrics have been complex and costly to capture. The traditional service level agreement (SLA) overlooks everyday IT issues that, over time, can be major sources of stress and frustration; it also fails to spot underlying problems, and sets only minimum standards. The experience level agreement (XLA) combines device and system data with in-the-moment sentiment capture. Unlike the SLA, it’s dynamic, constantly monitoring the whole IT environment and users’ interactions with it. Issues are identified and resolved proactively, and users always get 100% service. Delivering a great workplace experience also makes hiring and retaining talent easier; reduced downtime mean lower costs and enhanced customer service. Plus, user experience capture provides a clear path to value for IT investment. Our new paper examines the XLA, and how it can transform your organisation.

Explore the emerging trends and longer-term changes affecting UK IT leaders

Explore the emerging trends and longer-term changes affecting UK IT leaders With the immediate challenges of the pandemic behind us, CIOs face new, complex decisions around supporting distributed users and hybrid working models. For some organisations, Covid-19 acted as an accelerant for changes that were already being considered or actively implemented; for others, it forced a radical reassessment of how users interact with both technology and support services. In partnership with International Data Group (now Foundry), the world’s leading technology media, data and marketing services company, and the owner of the well-known publication ‘the CIO’, Acora surveyed UK-based IT decision makers from a wide range of industries and sectors. Our overall objective was to reveal the key priorities for today’s CIOs, their biggest concerns and in what areas businesses are spending their technology budgets, as well providing a broader sense of the technical, commercial and practical landscape in which CIOs are operating today. Download the CIO Report for insight into the key priorities and challenges affecting UK IT leaders.
